MYO Invitation: Super Hero Masks

Making your own invitations is a fun way to make your party announcements unique, on theme and are more personal than store bought invitations
Your guests will be able to keep the masks and even wear them to the party.  You can also make your own invitation for other themes such as sheriff badges for a cowboy theme or crowns for a princess theme.  Using foam craft paper instantly creates dimensional invitations.  They are easy to cut out, durable and soft to the touch.  Using card stock and the same template, attach a removable printed invitation to the back of the fun shape to write the party directions.  Save the foam remnants and scraps to make fun shapes for a station at the party where the guests can decorate their badges, crowns or masks, etc…

Directions for making a Super Hero Mask Invitation:
1. Cut mask shapes from foam sheets using the mask template
2. Cut identical shape from card stock paper for the back
3. Write the party directions on the card stock and affix to the back of the foam mask with poster putty.

For the invitation wording, include familiar superhero phrases such as:
‘Look, up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Super-(name)!’
‘Reply to (address / telephone). Or you’ll make me angry….You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry (The Hulk)’.
Incorporate fictional locations into your address such as ”Gotham City’ or ‘Metropolis’
Start each sentence with a different exclamation, such as:
‘Pow! You’re invited to (name)’s birthday party’
‘Zap! (Date & Time)
WHAMM! (location address)
SPLATT! Super-Kids themed fun and games, treats and snacks!
BOFF!  RSVP to (name, email address or phone #)
ZOWIE! Come wearing this superhero mask’

4. Punch holes in each end the masks with a single hole puncher
5. Tie elastic string or ribbon to each end of the mask.

Don’t forget to make it clear on the invitation that you want everyone to come with their superhero masks to decorate at the party.
Put the mask with superhero exclamations cut outs in an envelope (standard #9 or #10) and you’re ready to send!  The postage will only cost $.44 for each invitation!

Holiday Parties That Give Back

Every year, holiday parties go through the motions: invite your friends, play a round or two of Secret Santa, then everyone gets tanked off egg nog and the general sense of holiday merriment. This year, let’s take a step back and remember what the holidays are all about: giving the gift of Christmas to others. Check out my video below where I helped my friend Stacy plan a holiday party that had a bigger purpose.

Idea #1: Non-floral décor and centerpieces using items you have around the house then donate the money saved to charity

Idea #2: Host at Gifting Party where guests come and purchase a gift and decorate an ornament

Idea #3: Host a care package party – assign guests to bring one type of item (qty determined on # of packages to complete) to be included in the package as well as packaging and decorations.  Guests stuff care packages during party to be delivered to the charity of the hosts choice.  Bonus – pair up with a friend and have a delivery party at the charity and bring refreshments to host a holiday party at the charity for the staff/guests.
