Who doesn’t love a cup of hot cocoa …? But in the heat, maybe not so refreshing.  Try an Iced Hot Chocolate instead.  Similar to the classic, yet cool and refreshing.  First, start with delicious chocolate melted in warm milk as the base and when blended to gather with ice and low-fat milk, creates a frothy delicious cold chocolate beverage! Most importantly, serve in a chilled glass and finally drizzle the top with chocolate syrup as a garnish.

Ingredients

1/4 cup half and half

1 1/2 ounces semisweet chocolate (melted)

1 1/2 cups low-fat milk

4 ice cubes

Garnish:

1 ounce of whipped cream

Chocolate syrup for garnish

Tools & Materials

12 oz Ice Cream Soda Glass

Directions

  • Heat half-and-half in microwave on high for  approx. 1.5 mins. and stir in chocolate pieces and chocolate syrup until combined.

  • Cool, and transfer to a blender, add low fat milk and ice cubes, and blend at high speed for 2 to 3 minutes.

  • Serve immediately in a tall, cold glass garnished with a dollop of whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
