If you don’t have time for some of my more intricate egg decorations in my Easter Egg Decorating Party Plan, here is the most simple way for you to MYO dyed Easter eggs.

They’re fun to do and will brighten up your Easter decor! All you need is water, vinegar, and food coloring.

Ingredients

1/2  cup very hot water
1 tablespoon white vinegar
Wilton Gel food coloring

Tools & Materials

Mugs/Cups to dye eggs in
Spoon or tongs
Toothpicks

Directions

  • Boiling the Eggs

    1. Fill a pot with cold water and carefully add eggs.

    2. Bring water to a rolling boil, then cover and turn off heat.

    3. Let the pot set for 15 minutes before removing the eggs.

    4. Pour out warm water and fill pot with cold water.

    5. When the eggs are cooled, remove from water and store in refrigerator.

  • Dyeing the Eggs

    1. Dissolve gel food coloring into a mug filled with 1/2 cup hot water until water is your desired hue.  Stir with a toothpick until completely dissolved.

    2. Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to colored water and stir.

    3. Using a spoon or tongs, add a hard-boiled egg to mug of dyed water and let stand until it is your desired shade.

    4. Remove from colored water and let dry

    Pro Tip: For a swirled effect, add one tablespoon of olive oil to the water/vinegar dye mix!
