My Cranberry Sauce Cocktail is the perfect holiday libation. It’s sweet and savory and bubbly…the perfect combo for feeling festive by the fire on a cold winter’s night. And it’s special enough to make a big batch and share with company at your Holiday dinner or New Year’s Day brunch.

Ingredients

1 cup premium vodka

1/4 cup sugar

1 cup frozen cranberries, defrosted

peel of one orange cut into 1-inch strips

2 tablespoons of whole-berry cranberry sauce

2 ounces orange juice

4 ounces dry sparkling wine

3 whole cloves

5 pomegranate seeds

1 tangerine section

Tools & Materials

vegetable peeler

mason jar

mini leaf cookie cutter

cocktail shaker

cocktail glass, chilled

cocktail pick

Directions

  • Using a vegetable peeler, remove the peel from the orange in long strips wide strips. Wrap peels with a moist paper towel and wrap with plastic wrap and refrigerate until use.

  • Pour vodka into the mason jar and heat in the microwave on high for 30 seconds.  Stir in the sugar until fully dissolved. Add the room temperature cranberries and half the orange peel and allow to sit for 24 hours at room temperature. The liquid will become cranberry-orange liqueur and the spiked cranberries will be used as a garnish.

  • Place 1 1/2 ounces of cranberry-orange liqueur, cranberry sauce and orange juice in a cocktail shaker with ice.  Shake until well chilled.

  • Strain shaker contents into a chilled cocktail glass and top with sparkling wine.

Garnish with cloves, pomegranate seeds and a cocktail pick with a tangerine section, spiked cranberries and an orange peel cut into a fall leave shape.
