1. Mix the juices and vodka and serve over ice in a Collins glass.

Alternative: Instead of serving over ice, blend the ingredients with ice to make a shake.
Captain Phillips os the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the hijacking of the American cargo ship, MV Maersk Alabama, by Somali pirates in 2009.
Nothing in this film inspired me to want to sit back and sip a cocktail, so I did some research on the ship and Somalia. This cocktail is a take on a classic Alabama Slammer cocktail named in part by the name of the hijacked ship, Maersk Alabama and a traditional Somalian fruit drink. In Somalia, local fruits are made into beverages called tuk kolok, mostly shakes. Popular fruits for shakes are mangosteen, mangos, and bananas. There is a splash of Vermont vodka, since Captain Phillips is from Vermont, and topped with a mint garnish.
1.5 oz Silo Elderberry VT Vodka
2 oz mangosteen juice
2 oz mango juice
2 oz banana juice
Sprig of mint
1. Mix the juices and vodka and serve over ice in a Collins glass.
2. Add a sprig of mint on top to garnish.
Alternative: Instead of serving over ice, blend the ingredients with ice to make a shake.
