Mark Addison, award-winning designer, entertaining expert has joined the team of 23 talented interior designers of the 2018 Hampton Designer Showhouse in Bridgehampton, NY.
Mark challenged himself to design a highly-functional entertaining space inspired by his book, Cocktail Chameleon (Assouline).
Cocktail Chameleon is Mark’s invitation to join him in exploring 12 classic cocktails, with 12 unique variations that are individually photographed in unique glasses, personally curated by Mark. He believes that “looking-back” is essential to “designing-forward” and Mark draws inspiration from cocktail anthologies dating back to the 1860’s to create modern cocktails inspired by the classics.
Whether given as a gift or a valuable addition to one’s own library, COCKTAIL CHAMELEON will unlock the inner mixologist in everyone. It is sure to become an instant ally for hosts looking to elevate an occasion, or to help unwind and end the day on a high note!
Cocktail Chameleon inspired design elements include:
“Cocktail Party” Orange wallpaper by Spoonflower.com and “Cocktail Party” White Cocktail Napkins from Roostery.com. The hand-painted Cocktail Illustrated floor cloth is by Alpha Workshops and is available for custom orders only.
… and Mark’s Signature Cocktail Portraits direct from the pages of Cocktail Chameleon. Each of the 12″x12″ life-sized cocktail portraits is reverse mounted to 1″ thick hand-cut acrylic, which is double beveled and frosted to give the appearance of a floating picture frame. Each limited edition image is numbered and signed by Mark Addison and is exclusively available @ MarkAddison.com

His passion for classic cocktails is only matched by his love of iconic glassware, which he calls the “cocktail attire for your cocktails”. Mark believes the choice of barware is as important as the choice of spirits. When curating this home’s barware collection, he partnered with the French luxury house Baccarat, with its creations dating back for more than 250 years.
Here Mark combines Baccarat’s iconic barware with new modern classics illuminated by Baccarat’s Tuile de Crystal chandelier (Baccarat.com and London Jewelers, East Hampton).
Fine spirits are essential to making great cocktails. In Bar L’Orange he assembles an ultra-luxury collection from prestigious brands — Louis XIII Cognac, The Dalmore 40 Scotch Whisky, Clase Azul Ultra Tequila, Chopin Family Reserve, NOLET’S Reserve Gin, and Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades.
Mark has always been inspired by the treasured cocktail culture of The Hamptons at Herb McCarthy’s Bowden Square where he entertained such famous face as the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. “You can’t wing a good cocktail,” says Addison — which is why a properly appointed home bar is essential to any host/hostess looking to elevate their home entertaining experience.

Think a century ahead. Each decanter is the life achievement of generations of cellar masters. Since its origins in 1874, each generation of cellar master selects from our cellars the oldest and most precious eaux-de-vie for LOUIS XIII. Today, Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau is setting aside our finest eaux-de-vie, as a legacy to his successors for the coming century. LOUIS XIII is an exquisite blend of up to 1,200 eaux-de-vie sourced 100% from Grande Champagne, the first cru of the Cognac region. The legendary decanters have been made from fine crystal for generations, mouth-blown by some of the most skilled master craftsmen.
The Dalmore 40-year-old Scotch Whisky presented in a stunning hand-blown Baccarat crystal decanter has been aged in a Bourbon barrel, a Matusalem Sherry butt and a colheita Port pipe.Only 1,000 bottles are scheduled for release every year for five years. The Dalmore stag emblem featured on the decanter is the work of Scottish silversmith and Royal Warrant holder Hamilton & Inches.
NOLET’S Reserve is the quintessential sipping gin that captures the aromas of a variety of spices and botanicals, allowing for an intense and layered long-lasting taste. In Carolus Sr.’s own words, NOLET’S Reserve is “a gin of unprecedented excellence that builds on our family’s rich history.” Every batch of NOLET’S Reserve is distilled and bottled at Nolet Distillery in Schiedam, Holland, using a recipe perfected over four decades by Carolus Sr.
Quite literally in a league of its own, Clase Azul Ultra Tequila is the world’s most luxurious tequila. The exclusive Clase Azul offering is only produced in numbered batches of 100 bottles, which are quickly purchased by collectors. Each bottle contains tequila that is aged for five years in previously used sherry wood casks from Spain which gives Clase Azul Ultra its unique refined character.
The first release from Champagne Armand de Brignac, the Brut Gold remains the most iconic cuvée in the range. Rich with the old-world tradition of champagne blending, it is a trio of vintages from some of the most lauded terroirs of the region, resulting in a cuvée expressing vibrant and fresh fruit character with a soft texture.
Chopin Vodka Family Reserve features a special variety of young potato that are planted and grown in the estate fields surrounding the distillery. The potatoes were harvested at the peak of summer when they were still young, producing a sweeter tasting profile with delicate earthy notes. Under the watchful eye of our Master Distiller, the spirit has been distilled to retain the flavor of the potatoes from which it is made. The spirit was then left undisturbed in fifty-year-old oak barrels for two years to allow time for it to rest and mellow before being bottled by hand.
The first young potato vodka of its kind, Family Reserve presents on the nose with hints of spice that accent a gentle sweet musk. The palate opens with a delicate earthy sweetness followed by understated notes of licorice and clove. The finish is medium-long with a lingering warmth. Recommend sipping Family Reserve at cellar temperature (50-59 °F) to enjoy the full flavor of this special distillation.
Crafted for sophisticated luxury-goods consumers and premium-spirit connoisseurs, Chopin Vodka Family Reserve will be available starting November 2018 for a suggested retail price of $150. In its first year, only 6,000 cases will be available in major metropolitan areas throughout the United States.
