Starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, this romantic drama is based on the memoir, Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen by Jane Wilde Hawking, which deals with her relationship with her ex-husband, theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, his diagnosis of motor neuron disease, and his success in physics. 

This cocktail is named after Stephen Hawking’s novel, A Brief History of Time.

Ingredients

Cocktail:
1/2 ounces lemon juice
1 ounce thyme-infused simple syrup
1 1/2 ounces cucumber gin
Ice
Pinch of sea salt, optional
2 ounces unfiltered ginger ale
2 cucumber slices
2 sprigs fresh thyme, for garnish

Thyme-infused simple syrup
1/2 cup water
5 sprigs fresh thyme
1/2 cup granulated sugar

Directions

• Cocktail 
  Pour lemon juice, and thyme-infused syrup and gin into a shaker, a generous amount of ice, and a pinch of fleur de sel. Shake vigorously, and then strain into an ice-filled glass. Top with ginger ale, and garnish with cucumber slices and fresh thyme sprigs.

  For thyme-infused syrup
  Bring sugar & water to a boil in a small saucepan. Remove from heat, add sprigs of thyme, and let steep for 15 minutes. Strain.
